28 textile workers lost their lives in a garment factory located in the basement of a villa that was used as a residence due to heavy rains in Tangier, Morocco, due to the flooding of the basement floors of the factory.
Following this incident, as a result of the meetings between the Tangier Chamber of Commerce, the relevant professional federation and the local executive board, it was decided to build a new industrial zone for SMEs operating in the textile field. Textile workshops located in the city center or residential areas are expected to be placed in the said industrial zone.
In the same context, the Moroccan Textile and Apparel School Graduates Association called on the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Regional Council to build an industrial zone for textile entrepreneurs and SMEs.
